The SMV chassis extension for the Ford Transit with short wheelbase (FT, year of construction 1986 to 2000) creates the necessary load-bearing foundation at the rear of your motorhome for additional attachments. The chassis extension and reinforcement kit (RV+V kit) is aimed at motorhome owners whose vehicle has no factory extension or one that is insufficiently load-bearing. The extension is supplied at a maximum length of 1500 mm and can be shortened to the required dimension to suit the respective body.

Why is a chassis extension required on a motorhome?

What does a chassis extension do? It extends the vehicle chassis to the rear and forms the load-bearing basis to which attachments such as a tow bar or rear bike rack can be securely fitted. If a load-bearing factory extension is absent, it can be retrofitted using the RV+V kit.
