The chassis extension "Basis DC Sprinter 208-316, VW LT" by SMV is the load-bearing foundation for retrofitting a tow bar or rear bike rack to your motorhome. This RV+V set (chassis extension with reinforcement) is designed for the Mercedes Sprinter 208-316 of the 901, 902 and 903 series, as well as the equivalent VW LT for years of construction 1996 to 2006. It is intended for owners of motorhomes whose chassis does not feature a load-bearing chassis extension as standard.

Technical Features

Why Is a Chassis Extension Required?

On many motorhomes, the living body extends beyond the end of the chassis. In order to fit a tow bar or rear bike rack in this area, a load-bearing chassis extension is required. What does a D-value of 14.5 kN mean in practice? In combination with a suitable tow bar, the system is capable of supporting a towing capacity of up to approximately 2,500 kg on a vehicle with a gross weight of up to 3.5 t – provided the vehicle manufacturer does not specify a lower value.
